06.15.25 - two years in new york
hello again! it only felt right to commemorate two years of living in new york with a ponder post.
i come back to you all vulnerable. restless. numb, yet conscious of every inch of my being. confused and overwhelmed. in my twenties and inspired and lost. despondent and wildly hopeful. tired? grateful then moody. anticipatory. deeply in love.
i love typing in this font.
see below a brief timestamp on year two via a smattering of thoughts and reflections. create for the joy of creating, folks.
perhaps something new is simmering beyond this ponder post, but I can’t (and won’t) put a name to it yet.
back soon, maybe!
disclaimer 1: third-person self talk is not narcissistic
disclaimer 2: this was first crafted over a gin martini at the marlton hotel, then polished in my brooklyn bedroom the following morning.

sarah allen still cherishes movement. she goes to session training in greenpoint, the 6:15 AM class to be precise (she loves to be precise). she finds confidence and community in this space. she is still working on being more open, and learning how to seek out connection off the mat with those around her (scary!).
sarah allen is a production coordinator at bureau betak. she works with beautiful brands and beautiful people. she brings creative visions to life, and travels into soho, manhattan most days. she dresses up when she feels like it, and gives her absolute all.
sarah allen has blissfully found a partner, she cannot imagine new york, or this life, without him.
sarah allen still goes by sarah allen.
sarah allen has the dearest of friends, and they are slowly moving to brooklyn. clinton hill is still heaven on earth.
sarah allen is enamored by the art of hospitality. she co-hosts dinner parties (en route!) and finds pure magic in the countless food and beverage spaces around the city. her wallet does not.
new york has shown sarah allen strength, brokenness, opportunity, hedonism, awe, stillness, motion, love, hatred, perseverance, warmth and discipline. it has shown her the art of humility and of self-respect. that it is never to late to start again.
I hope you all continue to find what it means to be open, what it means to be raw, and what it means to be you.
with open arms,
sarah
off-kilter, post-martini bathroom pic at the Marlton. in this moment i just felt really happy to be me and to be in new york. cherish and relish in the imperfection!
